Think Tank asks: Is Trump really a master negotiator?
President Donald Trump has held himself out to be a master negotiator.
Is he?
Well, there is a body of knowledge concerning effective negotiating styles. Starting with Harvard’s “Getting to Yes” techniques which he studied at Harvard Law School, Marty Latz has taken the matter further in several books which have identified the conditions under which various negotiating styles are effective.
Does the “hard-nosed” style espoused in Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” work in intricate international negotiations? The question could hardly be timelier, as this week China imposed a series of highly targeted tariff’s in response to the president’s imposition of tariffs on imported steel from China.
In this week’s Think Tank, we ask Latz to analyze several highly salient and immediate domestic and foreign policy issues from the perspective of these negotiating principles.
