Not your father’s Republican Party?
Are we in the midst of a political party realignment?
Sure feels like it. President Donald Trump’s confidant Steve Bannon is looking for scalps — Republican ones. He claims to have collected genuine U.S. Senate scalps in Tennessee, Alabama, and now Arizona.
The Think Tank brings in old political hands Rick deGraw and Chuck Coughlin. They’ve faced off before, running Arizona gubernatorial campaigns of opposing candidates.
But that feels like ancient history; our parties seem to be re-aligning. There are some stresses in the Democratic coalition, but these seemed dwarfed by those on the other side of the aisle. At least, that’s the way it looks to me. Perhaps Rick and Chuck see it differently.
