The Hispanic vote and Arizona politics

The Hispanic vote has been cited as “The Thing that will Change Arizona Politics.” Problem is, that change has been promised for many years now, and it hasn’t materialized.

Our sole guest this week is Francisco Heredia, National Field Director of “Mi Familia Vota,” a national organization dedicated to increasing civic precipitation among Hispanic citizens. Their efforts have been directed at increasing voter registration and voting rates in six states: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, California and Florida.

Will this year be different? Our discussion will focus mainly on Arizona:

What is the size of the Hispanic population in Arizona?
What about registered voters?
What about the population that actually casts a vote?
What is their organization and others actually doing?
Is there a reason to believe their efforts will be successful this year? What would the political impact be if they are successful?
