Water in Arizona
We asked Historian Jack August, Arizona’s premier historian, who was the best governor Arizona ever had. He responded without hesitation: Bruce Babbitt. We then asked him why. His response was equally instantaneous: the 1980 Groundwater Act. Most sources credit Kathy Ferris for making that act a reality. She is currently Executive Director of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association. If you turn on your tap and water flows, in some significant measure, you have Kathy to thank. She joins this week’s Think Tank along with Tom Buschatzke the Director of the State Department of Water Resources.
