State of the Union analysis and a real-life dragon slayer
This week, Mike takes a look at the rhetorical techniques used in the State of the Union address.
Unlike the President Donald Trump’s inauguration “American carnage” missive (to which President George W. Bush was said to have responded: “Do you believe this [expletive]”?), this week’s SOTU address followed well-established formulae.
We take a look at what was said in this speech and how effective it is likely to be in augmenting support for the president.
And, in a special segment, we invite dragon-slayer Dawn Penich-Thacker to give her reaction to two of this week’s developments: an Arizona court’s dismissal of a lawsuit challenging the Save Our Schools anti-voucher referenda and the legislative sanctioning of former state Rep. Don Shooter.
She has unique perspectives on each.
And, if you don’t get the dragon-slayer reference, tune in and we’ll explain.
